LRH Celebrating 50th Anniversary with Open House and Health Fair

In recognition of their 50th anniversary, Lakes Regional Healthcare (LRH) will host an open house/health fair on Saturday, June 13 from 10:00 until 2:00. It will be held in the hospital’s education center and adjoining areas on the first floor, and people are encouraged to enter the hospital via the east or south entrances. Admission is free and those in attendance are welcome to come and go as they please. There will be a number of activities to enjoy and much information, such as:

- Free blood pressure checks
- Free total cholesterol tests (first come, first served)
- Various diabetes and nutrition presentations
- Drawing for a free digital screening mammogram
- Ambulance, helicopter, and patient room tours
- A commemorative movie highlighting the hospital’s 50 years
- Information about some of the innovative technologies provided at LRH
- Free face painting for the kids

LRH Vice President of Administrative Services Jennifer Gustafson said, “We’re excited about this event and hope a lot of people will take the time to come out and enjoy it. There’s something for nearly everyone to see and do at the event. People new to the area will enjoy seeing all the services provided here, and those that have received care here their whole lives will enjoy watching the movie about how the hospital was started and how it’s evolved over the years. There will be presentations for diabetics, presentations for anyone interested in nutrition and good health, many healthcare professionals to talk to about various issues, and there will be some healthcare services provided for free, including blood pressure checks and total cholesterol tests. These are just a few things; there will be much more to see and do and I think everyone who attends will be happy they came.”

Lakes Regional Healthcare began as Dickinson County Memorial Hospital on June 15, 1959, providing general acute healthcare services. Since that time, the organization has grown to provide many more services while utilizing the latest technological advancements.

Gustafson said, “We have a lot to celebrate. The organization has grown a great deal since 1959, both in physical size, number of employees, and scope of services. This couldn’t have occurred without the local support of residents in Dickinson County. This event is a way to not only show our appreciation for those that have supported us, but also to celebrate this milestone and recognize the strong, quality organization we are and the services we provide today.”
