LRH to Hold Ambulance Open House May 22
In recognition of National Emergency Medical Services Week, Lakes Regional Healthcare’s (LRH) Mobile Intensive Care Services department will have an open house on Saturday, May 22 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. just outside the hospital’s ambulance garage on the southwest side of the hospital by the main entrance.
LRH Outpatient Services Manager Lois Hawn said, “This is a great time for people to come out and see our newest ambulances. It is also a great time for everyone to see what Emergency Medical Services is all about, by visiting with EMS staff and asking questions in a stress-free environment.”
Parents of elementary and preschool aged children are particularly encouraged to attend the event. LRH Paramedic Specialist Chris Yungbluth said, “It’s important for children to understand what we do, that we’re here to help, and we’re not scary.”
The event will give kids in elementary school the opportunity to enter a drawing for a free ambulance ride to school on the last day of school as well as put their name in a drawing for a free bicycle helmet. Yungbluth said, “We’ll give a free ride to a Lake Park student on May 24, a Terril student on May 26, an Okoboji student on May 28, and a Spirit Lake student on June 2. We’ll also give away one boy’s bicycle helmet and one girl’s bicycle helmet. You don’t need to be present to win.”
