LRH Hosting 3rd Annual 5K Fun Run/Walk
Lakes Regional Healthcare (LRH) is hosting its third annual “Hold it for the Holidays” 5K fun run/walk for area residents and visitors. The event’s goal is to encourage people to decrease their weight during the holiday season. The 5K fun run/walk will be held on Saturday, November 19 at 9:00 am and will be from LRH’s south entrance to the YMCA via Zenith Avenue, 28th Street, and Sunner Avenue, then back to LRH along the trail on Highway 71. Participants pay $20 if registered on or before November 10 and $25 if registered between November 11-19. Each participant will receive a long-sleeve tee shirt and snacks. People of all ages and fitness levels are encouraged to attend. It is not a race, and competitive runners are encouraged to time themselves.
To get in the holiday giving spirit, 5K participants are encouraged to donate at least one household supply or non-perishable food items (please no canned vegetables) that will be given to Upper Des Moines for families in need. Participants that donate an item will have their name entered in a drawing to win a $50 gift card to an area retailer. Three participant names will be drawn. Below is a listing of items Upper Des Moines prefers to receive:
Laundry detergent
Juice boxes
Crackers
Toothpaste
Boxed dinners
Peanut butter
Shampoo
Muffin or pancake mixes
Canned tuna and chicken
Cereal
Syrup
Rice
Oatmeal packets
Instant mashed potatoes
Soup
