
 Physical Therapy Lakes Regional Healthcare's physical therapists help patients live life more independently and with less pain by helping patients regain function and control of muscles and by educating patients about how to prevent injuries.
Physical therapy services are available at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake and at the Lakes Regional Community Health Center in Milford for patients with various illnesses, including:
• Orthopaedic • Cardiac • Surgical • General Medical • Pediatric
The average physical therapy patient participates in 10 sessions, lasting four to six weeks. During that time period, several treatments may be performed, such as massage, electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and therapeutic exercise consisting of strengthening and stretching. In addition, patients receive education regarding gait training, safety precautions following surgical procedures, and how to maintain muscle function and strength at home.
Patients must receive a physician’s referral to participate in physical therapy programs.
