Lakes Regional Healthcare sponsors a two-hour session on the basics of breastfeeding for expectant parents. Topics include:
Breastfeeding basics Golden Rule of breastfeeding Advantages for baby, mother, and father Anatomy of the human breast How lactation occurs Care of your breasts Managing possible problems Information especially for fathers Ingredients for effective breastfeeding
Classes are held on Thursdays from 7 to 9 p.m. in the hospitals education center. This class is offered free of charge. In addition, a book entitled Breast-feeding: A Parents Guide is given to those who attend.

Area women who have had successful breasting feeding experiences offer a breastfeeding support group for new mothers. This support group will offer you the opportunity to ask questions and share experiences with others who have known the joys of breastfeeding. Please ask your Breastfeeding Class instructor for details.
