| Preparing for oncology services during vacation |
Lakes Regional Healthcare urges vacationers with medical conditions to make advanced preparations for their ongoing health care services and treatments, including chemotherapy. Not only will advanced preparation help patients receive the care needed, it will also ensure care is received in an efficient and convenient manner.
Preparing for health care services is rather simple. Patients need a written, signed order, along with their diagnosis, from their physician. This information is provided to Lakes Regional Healthcare staff, preferably by fax machine in advance of needing to receive the service. For those in need of blood tests, the information can be faxed to the hospital’s Laboratory Department at 712-336-8627. Patients may also call the Laboratory Department at 712-336-8644. For those in need of chemotherapy or other outpatient treatments, the information can be faxed to the hospital’s Outpatient Clinic at 712-336-8633. Patients may also call the Outpatient Clinic at 712-336-8650 or the Oncology Clinic at 712-336-8756.
When Lakes Regional Healthcare receives orders from physicians that do not have privileges at the facility, contact will be made with a physician who does have privileges. Once this contact is made, communication may take place with the patient’s personal physician to ensure the best care possible is provided.
